"If this program is pushed through, the militarization of the schools could have dangerous consequences for the democratic aspects of our country. Given the current political climate, the state might use the militarization of young people for selfish purposes, which would inevitably lead to human rights violations."

“This is not only unreasonable but also more stringent than what the constitution demands for a presidential candidate. It is hypocritical even, for a country with a president who does not hold a college degree, and an education secretary who lacks a background in education."

Youth groups questioned the reduced budget for capital outlay and maintenance funds for state universities and colleges saying that proper and accessible services and conducive learning facilities remain wanting for students and instructors.
Kabataan Partylist Rep. Raoul Manuel said that the impending budget cut in state universities and colleges reflects the Marcos Jr. administration’s disregard for quality tertiary education.
"For the longest time, the Accord served as our vanguard and sanctuary of our peace and wisdom in the University."
